2013 Topps Tribute World Baseball Classic box

The final box in my post-holiday order was 2013 Topps Tribute World Baseball Classic. This is another high end box that can be had at a mid end price. It ended up being a VERY good box.

Each box includes 6 packs with 5 cards per pack. Each pack includes 1 hit with each box containing 4 autos and 2 WBC jersey patch cards.

All of the base cards are beautiful with a bright refractor sheen, which is of course not visible in the scan.

Never heard of this guy.

I LOVE this Cargo patch! Mostly because I love the maroon/gold combination of Venezuela's uniforms.

Ok so the cards speak for themselves. This was an awesome box!!!

That's the end of my boxes from my post-holiday splurge.

2013 Panini America's Pastime box

Hey guys. It's been awhile since I've been able to continue with posting the boxes I picked up. My grandfather passed away on the 16th and I spent much of the last week in Kentucky for the funeral. I got home just in time to get snowed in. I wish I could have stayed to help clean out the house but I had to come home to go back to work. Instead I've missed the last two days of work and expect to miss tomorrow as well because of all the snow and ice. Oh well.

Anyways, the next box was 2013 Panini America's Pastime. I saw a few of these boxes busted on youtube and was very interested due to the $99 price point from Dave and Adam's. Each box contains one pack with ten cards. That generally includes six hits, one being a book card, and the rest being base and inserts. This is basically a cheaper alternative to a product like Immaculate.

I believe this was a bonus hit. Not the best player to get, but it should be a cool card. Also, you may notice that the redemption expired on July 9th last year. But Panini does do some cool stuff like accept expired redemptions! I had no problem inputting the code and the card has been made so I don't expect to wait too long for it.

And lastly, the book card.

53/99

This is my first book card. These are one per box. I would love to pull a book card unexpectedly some day. Now I need to pick up a holder next time I go to the LCS.

So this box was a ton of fun to bust. Not a bunch of cards but it felt like a high end box at a mid-range price. I feel like there aren't many left out there though because Blowout doesn't have them at all and D&A has them on clearance. I may try to snag another one or two boxes before they're gone.

Still one more box to go!

2009 Topps Ticket to Stardom box

The next box in my order is 2009 Topps Ticket to Stardom. This product seemed intriguing to me for it's different concept of using real MLB game ticket stubs in relic cards. It ended up being quite fun to open.

The base cards were a bit bland. They would have been better if they had left the original color in the background of the photo.

Each pack also included a base parallel where the top and bottom edges of the card were die cut with a jagged edge like a torn ticket stub.

Rookie parallel 091/199

These rookie parallels don't make a lot of sense. There are lots of rookie cards that are unnumbered but then there are some that look no different except that they're numbered.

Next up are some of the inserts.

And the hits..

This product only lasted one year and I can kinda see why. The base set is a little boring and the inserts are much the same as Topps flagship. While the hits are a novel concept that I haven't seen anywhere else I don't think they carry enough value to carry the whole set alone. That said, it was fun to open since it was interesting and new to me. I probably won't open anymore though.

More boxes soon!

2008 Upper Deck SPx - Box 2

And here is box two of 2008 Upper Deck SPx.

Autos

Box topper

And in the very first pack...

At least it's two autos of a guy I've actually heard of.

Oh yeah!! A Tex auto from his short tenure with the Braves. That is a rarity. Before I opened these boxes I wondered if I would possibly pull any Braves hits. I never pull Braves hits so this was a welcome surprise.

This one would have been Evan Longoria. I already have his auto so not being able to redeem this doesn't hurt so bad. These rookie auto redemptions fall two per case. This is the second one of these I've pulled in three boxes of the product. The one of one Griffey and Babe Ruth inserts also fall two per case. I would MUCH rather have pulled one of those. Oh well. I'm sure I'll open more of these as long as they're available so maybe I'll get lucky down the road.

Relics

21/99

Very nice pull of the new Hall of Famer and an addition to my HoF relic PC. Unfortunately it came out the pack damaged, as I'm sure you can see. It looks like the card was almost bent in half and there is a big chip on the top edge above the SPx logo. All of the cards in that pack were damaged in a similar manner but the rest of the box was fine. So I'm guessing that the damage occurred after packout but before boxing. Nothing I can do about it now.

And the patch card..

Dual patch!!

So to say the least this box was a big step up from the last one. Francisco Liriano and Mark Teixeira autos, Griffey (damaged) relic and a dual patch. And two Braves hits in one box!

I love 2008 SPx!!

More boxes coming soon!

2008 Upper Deck SPx - Box 1

Next up is two boxes of 2008 Upper Deck SPx. I opened a box of this awhile back and quite enjoyed it. Currently the boxes are about $50 from Blowout and contain 11 hits, one per pack plus a box topper auto. The hits generally aren't anything high dollar but it's fun to open a box where you get a hit in every pack.

The Markakis auto is definitely the best of the bunch. Nice to pull an auto of the now Braves rightfielder.

Relics

I'm guessing these are a pretty tough pull because they aren't even listed on the checklist. However, it is not numbered.
