Black Friday Show

On Black Friday I went baseball card shopping at a card show. Like usual it was a blast! I love going to card shows. This time I only bought three singles, all relics.

This one fills both my Braves and my HoF relic PC. It's also abnormal in that it's a dual pitcher relic with bat pieces AND shows both of them batting.

Next up is another dual purpose relic for the Braves and HoF PC's.

We have a trend here.

Soon I will report on the boxes I busted, which all turned out well!

Redemption fulfilled

Awhile back I found a new LCS to check out and I bought the last pack from a jumbo box of 2015 Bowman Chrome. The pack contained a redemption for a James McCann rookie auto. Topps came through this week.

I wonder what the O in his signature stands for.

Swapping some cardboard with the Rhubarb_Runner

The first ever internet trade I made was with the Rhubarb_Runner at "é rayhahn, rayhahn". He encouraged me to get into blogging and shortly after I followed his advice and started this page. Ever since that first trade we had not traded since. But a few weeks ago he emailed me and said he had built up a nice amount of Braves trade bait and wanted to know if I was interested. (I highly suggest you check out his extensive trade bait page here. He has great stuff from every team.) We ended up working a deal out and this is what he sent me. This is his report on what I sent him.

The bulk of what he sent me added to my Chipper Jones PC.

After I gave Rhubarb my list of cards I was interested in he suggested I add a few more to even out the trade. So I added a few cards from the original Topps Tek issues. I never opened and of it back then and was interested to see how it measured up to the current day issues. Nice looking cards!!

I like how the red really pops on the back of this one.

Lastly is this Andruw Jones relic.

Thanks for the trade Rhubarb!!

Spree Card #11

It took my awhile but I finally got around to scanning the final card from my eBay spree. I posted awhile back about how 1993 World Series MVP Pat Borders is a distant cousin of mine. Well one day I finally decided to hunt down a certified auto of his. Buying this card actually sparked the eBay spree but it took over three weeks for it to arrive after I hit the BIN. Regardless, I finally have his autograph!

Spree Card #10

#179/306

Next up is this relic of 2004 Olympic gold medal gymnast Carly Patterson. This is my first relic of an athlete that I've actually met. I got her autograph back when I met her in 2005 but I did not previously have a relic card so this makes a nice addition to my collection.

I still have one more card from my spree to post. It arrived later than the other cards so I haven't scanned it yet.

Spree Card #9

So this one is a change of pace. When I was perusing the cards my favorite eBay seller had I came across this Kelia Moniz relic from this year's Ginter. When I saw it I had a revelation. I collect cards that contain pieces of cloth "worn" by sweaty male athletes. I like these cards. So based on the fact that I like women a lot, WHY IN THE WORLD am I not collecting cards that contain pieces of cloth "worn" by beautiful female athletes?! It only makes sense to do so, yeah? So I bought the card. It was also quite inexpensive. I'm going to start pursuing more cards like this.

By the way, here's a real picture of Kelia Moniz.

Surfer chicks are cool.
