A visit to Cardboard Cooperstown

On my recent visit to Target I checked for discount blasters, as I always do. Most of the stuff they had was 2013 Topps S1 and S2. But buried at the back I found a box of 2013 Panini Cooperstown. This is the type of product I won't pay the full $20 price for due to it's rather boring design and lack of attractive content. I also don't generally like this set cause each pack has those little "Colgan's Disc" inserts. I don't like the minis in every pack of Ginter and Gypsy Queen. I REALLY don't like these discs. But at the discounted price it's worth it for me to have a shot at a Hall of Fame auto and cards from the area where Panini really shines, parallels.

The base content was exactly as expected. What was nice is the "blaster bonus" was a three card pack of green Crystal Shard parallels.

It's hard to tell from the scans, but these cards are beautiful.

I also pulled a Gold Crystal Shard parallel.

Oh and remember that I mentioned that one of the main draws of this set is the possibility of pulling Hall of Fame autos?

Great addition to my HoF PC!!

  2. Nice job. Those cards do look nice, I may seek out a box next time I go to Target, but no real rush since I haven't gone in close to a year.
