2014 Donruss Series 1 box

The last box I picked up on my LCS supply run was 2014 Donruss Series 1.

Probably my favorite card in the box.

Already scratched and redeemed.

Base cards wise I thought 2014 Donruss was on the kinda meh side. But the inserts were pretty cool. I'm not a huge fan of the Press Proof base parallels though. I prefer the colored borders Topps uses to differentiate the parallels as opposed to just a foil stamp. It was a fun box to bust though.

One more box of chrome

The second box I purchased on my LCS supply run was a box of 2014 Topps Chrome. This was my third box of the product which is two more than I've opened of any other product. Needless to say, I like busting Chrome.

2012 Topps Heritage hobby box

Recently I made a trip to the LCS to pick up some supplies for my forthcoming collection surplus purge, (Be on the lookout for it soon!) Well I can't go into the LCS without buying packs or even boxes. I ended up coming away with three different hobby boxes. The first is 2012 Topps Heritage. The box was the last one that he had and it had a very noticeable covering of dust on it so it had definitely been sitting on the shelf for quite awhile. He wanted to clear some shelf space for the incoming 2015 Series 1 so he gave me a good deal on it to get rid of it. Here are the highlights.

The box loader. 1963 Topps Steve Barber. I sorta wish Topps didn't put a foil stamp on these buybacks but I guess I understand why they do it. The card is actually in really good shape for being 52 years old now. Corners are sharp, edges and surface are clean.

Annnnd the hit.

Overall it was a pretty uninspiring box. But I like 2012 Heritage so it was still fun to bust.

A few more from eBay

I did some more shopping with my favorite eBay seller. This time I went patch hunting.

eBay relics

Adding to my Chipper Jones relic collection.

This isn't exactly a Braves relic but it has Tom Glavine on it and that's good enough for me! This is my first base relic and it is supposedly from a base used in one of the 1999 World Series games. Whether or not that's true, it's still a cool card. '99 was a fun season for Braves fans with 103 wins and Chipper Jones winning the National League MVP with one of the all-around best statistical seasons in MLB history. The year he finally figured out how to hit right handed, thanks to hitting coach Don Baylor, ultimately making him the second best switch hitter in MLB history behind Mickey Mantle. In fact his right handed hitting improved so much that he finished his career actually hitting one point higher from the right side than the left, .304 to .303. Anyways, '99 was a great year. Unfortunately the Braves ran into an on fire Yankees team who swept the series.

Olympic hits

A couple months ago I picked up two more discounted 2014 Olympics blasters. Here are the guaranteed hits.

These definitely aren't as good as the Lindsay Vonn patch I pulled from the first box I bought. But I quite enjoy these Olympic boxes.
